New York State – Watch out for a lottery scam with fake checks that look like they were issued by New York State. Feeling frazzled in the new year? Now is an especially important time to be on your guard against scams and fraud. The Office of the Attorney General is warning the public against email scams. Its civil division chief Gil Birnbrich said a government employee recently received the following email, which was sent from the email account of an acquaintance.
