Those messages being sent out are infected and just opening them infects your computer which will spam all of your contacts You need to do a few things

Even the creating of "hot" profiles probably doesn't take all that long with a good computer and with pictures at the ready. And they can probably send a bazillion of those out at a single clip. Spammers program their computers to "find" user names. Not terribly hard. Might be an intitial expenditure of time and effort, but the effects are far reaching. A small percantage of bites and it will pay off for them. The bottom line is if it didn't pay off they wouldn't do it. Myspace is huge. I have an account there, but never use it.
